Baby, It's Cold Outside

It's about 6:25pm and I just checked the weather network.  The temperature outside is -51C with the windchill. Ouch!  I had to walk home from work and I was glad to finally get here.  Unfortunately, my lettuce froze on the way.  It's only a 15 minute walk tops, and I have a full length down coat, but my legs were still feeling the pinch of this crazy cold weather.  Time for a hot bath.

  1. Wow Chantal! We haven't hit that low in Iqaluit yet, thank goodness. Us poor southern ex-pats have to ease our way into these Nunavut winters. Temperature's started to drop this week...we're apparently slated for -17 C tomorrow - not sure what the windchill will bring.

  2. You are finally headed for a real winter! Last year in Iqaluit it began snowing in September. The coldest temperature we experienced there was -52C with the windchill. They shut the schools down that day. In Baker Lake, the school year starts in mid-August to make up for all the snow days! Many blizzards to come, so I've heard. Although Iqaluit stays in the -30's to -40's with windchill all winter long (normally) it's very doable with good winter gear. I don't know what's in store for you guys this year, being that winter was off to a slow start.
